UK GDPR – direct marketing
Recorded on: 11/09/2023
The area of direct marketing continues to see a considerable amount of enforcement action by the ICO, particularly for breaches of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). At present fines for breaches of the PECR are capped at £500,000 but this is likely to be equalised with UK GDPR fining powers in the near future. Consequently, it is essential that controllers are aware of the complexities that apply to this area of data protection law.
This webinar sets out a summary of the key provisions of the UK GDPR and of PECR and the recently updated guidance of the ICO. The proposed changes set out in the Data Protection and Digital Information (No. 2) Bill will also be discussed.
