State of the Market: First4Lawyers launches its seventh survey on the current state of the personal injury market

By Qamar Anwar, managing director at Legal Futures Associate First4Lawyers

Can you spare five minutes to share your views in our annual State of the Market survey?

Our seventh annual survey of lawyers working in the personal injury and clinical negligence sector is again open.

Your thoughts help us paint a comprehensive picture of the market, identifying the issues it is currently facing as well as the challenges ahead.

All responses are completely confidential.

The Official Injury Claim portal

Last year’s survey showed the overall mood amongst practitioners was one of resilience. Of course, the hottest topic was the Official Injury Claim (OIC) portal, which recently marked its second anniversary. We are interested to hear your views on how things are panning out. Have the problems that beset its launch been ironed out?

We recently spoke with Martin Saunders, head of service at the OIC, and while he recognises that there are still areas to work on, such as settlement times, he classes the portal as a success. We’d love to hear your experiences.

Clinical negligence

When it comes to clinical negligence, last year you told us you were seeing increased volumes but expected the cost of doing business to continue to climb. Has that been the case? By how much have those costs risen?

Marketing

We’ll also be probing what has been happening with marketing budgets. Are you doing more with less?

Last year some 80% of you said you planned to invest more or the same, is that still the case?

During challenging times, we know that marketing budgets can be the first thing to be cut, only later to discover that doing so is in fact a false economy. After all, potential customers need to know who you are, where you are and what you do – in bad times as well as good.

How is your firm faring and what do the next 12 months look like for you?

Tell us what you think

Our survey takes just five minutes to complete and is completely confidential. You can take the survey by clicking here.

Results will be released in September and shared on the First4Lawyers website, email communications and social media channels.

Many thanks in advance for taking part.
