First legal executives granted historic independent practice rights
Monday, 30 March 2015A member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives who specialises in conveyancing has become the first to receive independent practice rights. A probate specialist and a legal executive who runs his own immigration firm were also granted independent rights.

KPMG granted wide-ranging waivers from SRA rules
Thursday, 2 October 2014The Solicitors Regulation Authority has granted KPMG 12 waivers from the rules governing solicitors, in what appears to be a work-around ahead of proposed new rules that will make it easier for multi-disciplinary practices to become alternative business structures.

LSB chair: regulators need to help push down cost of legal services

Last hurdle before accountants can offer probate services: a two-day course

Accountants able to handle probate work without solicitors from next month

European law firms to be exempt from SRA oversight despite competition concerns
