LSB gives thumbs up to regulators’ action plans for price and service transparency
Tuesday, 3 October 2017The Legal Services Board has marked as “sufficient” action plans produced by legal regulators to introduce price transparency and release other information to the public to help with purchasing decisions. The verdict on the original action plans published at the end of June came in the wake of the regulators moving to the next stage of consulting on how they would implement transparency.

LSB decides against changing rules on telling clients about complaints procedures
Wednesday, 24 May 2017The Legal Services Board has dismissed concerns about the “negative” impact of its requirement that lawyers tell clients about their complaints procedures before any work has been done. Research found “negative reactions” to the prominence of this information but the board said the problem was how some lawyers have chosen to provide it.

Outstanding value? LSB persuades legal regulators to publish annual costs statements
Wednesday, 12 April 2017The Legal Services Board has persuaded all the legal regulators to produce straightforward annual statements on their costs so that practitioners can clearly see how their money is being spent, it has emerged. As a result, the LSB has shut down its cost of regulation project and publish its own statement of costs.

New ABS rules will smooth path for group structures and private equity, says SRA

LSB declines to produce the “right” answer on indemnity insurance

LSB pushes for fully independent regulators to prevent professional bodies resisting reforms

In a letter to the justice select committee, Sir Michael Pitt, chairman of the LSB, argued that there was scope under existing arrangements for them to “resist reforms”.
