Outstanding value? LSB persuades legal regulators to publish annual costs statements
Wednesday, 12 April 2017The Legal Services Board has persuaded all the legal regulators to produce straightforward annual statements on their costs so that practitioners can clearly see how their money is being spent, it has emerged. As a result, the LSB has shut down its cost of regulation project and publish its own statement of costs.

SME lobby: regulators must have power to force lawyers’ price information into public domain
Monday, 19 September 2016The Federation of Small Businesses has recommended that legal services regulators be given sweeping powers to force providers to make public wide-ranging information on pricing and client feedback. The not-for-profit organisation, which lobbies for the interests of SMEs, also advised that ‘unmet need’ among small businesses is addressed by boosting the information available on what problems might have legal remedies.

Deregulation: Too much of a good thing?
Thursday, 23 July 2015There are a lot of things that lawyers and the government do not agree about. One area where they do, generally speaking, is the need for deregulation. The ‘legal regulators’ (this now includes the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) were keen to show just how much they agree in the three reports sent by the Legal Services Board to justice minister Shailesh Vara this week.
