IRIS Legal has signed an exclusive partnership agreement with rekoop, the industry leading provider of time capture software, to enable barristers to more effectively capture and manage time whilst in chambers and on the move.
The deal has seen IRIS Legal and rekoop work together to tailor the software to specifically meet the needs of today’s busy barristers and integrate the new Automatic Time Capture for barristers into the recently released IRIS Meridian Law Connected (MLC) 3.1 Chambers Management product. It will shortly pilot at a number of UK barristers’ chambers.
The move is part of IRIS Legal’s ‘Best in Class’ partnership strategy, which sees customers gain access to a wider range of software services needed to grow, run and manage chambers effectively.
Automatic Time Capture is a powerful intuitive tool which enables barristers capture any element of time – whether an incoming or outgoing phone call, a meeting, an appointment, documentation, reading or writing e-mails – and then use this information to successfully bill clients.
Using rekoop’s native apps for iPhones, iPads, BlackBerry smartphones and tablets, the software captures time even when a barrister is working out of chambers or on the move, by automatically updating the IRIS MLC chambers management software. Utilising the innovative ‘Digital Footprint’ feature, time is captured on the device with users having the choice of a proactive or passive time entry, either relying on activity-led prompts or end of day review.
In addition to helping barristers significantly increase billable time captured, Automatic Time Capture has been developed to ensure the relevant time spent by barristers is captured, allocated and billed easily and in a timely manner. Furthermore, the service will also help meet the requirements of newly introduced cost management and budgeting rules by providing greater visibility, transparency and accuracy of costs to present to cost judges.
With its product, rekoop has built significant market share over the past three years and is currently used by five of the top 15 UK law firms, including Freshfields, Norton Rose and Simmons & Simmons.
Doug Hargrove, managing director of IRIS Legal, said: “This strategic partnership agreement fits well with our philosophy of creating compelling value for our customers to enable them to become more business-like, more efficient in their day to day operations and fully compliant.
“Today’s busy barristers can benefit hugely from a service which automatically records all the time spent on matters without them even having to think about it, even while on the move or out at court. I am delighted to have secured this partnership with rekoop as I recognise they are leading the field in this area of technology and I am looking forward to seeing our IRIS MLC 3.1 customers experience the benefits.
“Our strategy in 2013 to build ‘Best in Class’ partnerships with quality third-party organisations is well underway. We are keen to assure our customers that this will help keep them one step ahead of their competitors using rival products. We’re already talking to a number of other industry experts in the legal technology market and we plan to announce even more partnerships to benefit barristers soon.”
Phil Wedgwood, CEO of rekoop, added: “We’re delighted to become a strategic partner with IRIS Legal and we’re confident that incorporating our software into IRIS MLC 3.1 adds value for us, IRIS Legal and the customer. This alliance further highlights rekoop as the leading worldwide software vendor dedicated to time capture. We’re proud to be developing relationships that help forward-thinking chambers take advantage of new technology.”
