LSB pushes for fully independent regulators to prevent professional bodies resisting reforms
Friday, 22 July 2016The Legal Services Board has argued more strongly than ever that professional bodies must be fully separated from regulators. In a letter to the justice select committee, Sir Michael Pitt, chairman of the LSB, argued that there was scope under existing arrangements for them to “resist reforms”.

Separation would be better for both of us, SRA leaders tell Law Society
Thursday, 3 December 2015The leaders of the Solicitors Regulation Authority have made it clear that they believe it would be better for the public and the profession if they had complete independence from the Law Society. They were responding to the Treasury’s announcement earlier this week on independent regulation.
