Battle over BTE insurers' control of fee rates and solicitor choice heads to Court of Appeal
Tuesday, 29 November 2011The Court of Appeal is to decide the extent to which legal expenses insurers can control how much they pay non-panel solicitors. ULR Additions has lodged an appeal against the important ruling that before-the-event insurers cannot reject a policyholder’s choice of a non-panel solicitor because of fee rates.

Consumer watchdog calls on SRA to probe referral fees and conflicts of interest in BTE

Here come the brands: AA and Saga launch legal websites aimed at Middle England
Monday, 1 November 2010The AA and Saga have today launched legal services websites targeted at Middle England as pressure on high street solicitors cranks up. Both companies – which are owned by the same private equity businesses – have tied up with volume law firm Cogent Law to offer services sitting behind an online document-assembly platform provided by legal IT company Epoq Legal.
