Co-op goes face-to-face with nationwide family legal aid service

Hourly billing leaves family law clients out in the cold, research finds

Niche practices eye expansion opportunities after gaining ABS licences

PI firms outperform all others and are keenest on ABSs, finds ‘state of the nation’ survey
Thursday, 17 January 2013Personal injury firms have weathered the recession better than any other area of practice – and are far more likely to be looking for external investment than any other as well, one of the largest-ever surveys of solicitors’ firms has found. It said employment, family and corporate / commercial specialists also performed better than average.

Co-op launches fixed-fee family law service
Thursday, 20 September 2012Co-operative Legal Services (CLS) has today launched its much-touted family law operation in London, offering services on a fixed fee as standard. CLS, which was one of the first three alternative business structures, has so far recruited 22 fee-earners.

Liverpool firm becomes first family law ABS
Wednesday, 29 August 2012A Liverpool-based practice has become the first specialist family law firm to become an alternative business structure. Tracey Miller Family Law will use its new status to allow business development manager Anthony Hool to take a minority stake in the firm.

Law firms team up to launch fixed-fee collaborative law one-stop shop
Friday, 11 May 2012A group of 15 law firms in Yorkshire and the north-east have joined forces with a specialist divorce coach and independent financial adviser to offer what they say is the first fixed-fee collaborative divorce service. There are plans to expand Dovetail Divorce Solutions across the country.
